Rush Green Traffic: New Petition
Published: 27/01/2025
We draw members attention to this latest petition which they may be minded to sign, at the request of the Kingsmead Residents Association.
McDonalds came to Rush Green in 2001. Increasing traffic issues at the site blocking exit from the B1502 since then is widely considered to be dangerous.
Herts County Council designated part of the B1502 and the area in front of the site an Urban Clearway in an attempt to stop the queues. An Urban Clearway forbids stopping or parking. The Police never had the resources to enforce the clearway.
A 2018 petition obtained over 1000 signatures and urged HCC to work with partners to find a solution. The result was a feeder lane which takes approximately 3 to 4 cars off the highway. McDonalds do have planning permission to build this lane but as yet has not. At peak times this is clearly not a solution.
Here is a link to the latest petition which calls on HCC to install cameras to enforce the clearway.

This is because in the last year or so) HCC has been given the power to install enforcement cameras at sites like this, removing the need for police resource.
